THE GAVIN ANDERSON SOBELL HOUSE APPEALGavin Anderson passed away in Sobell House, Oxford on 18 January 2010 after a 10-month battle with cancer. Gavin leaves behind wife Marilyn and sons Lee and Tim.
Gavin wanted a fund to be set up to support the fantastic work done by Sobell House in their care of cancer patients and a dedicated website details the programme of events for 2010 aimed at raising a substantial amount for the fund. 26 June 2010 - BOWLS DAYThe Bowls Day took place at Oxford City and County Bowls Club: a full day event with the highlight being a Mixed Triples event with an all day BBQ, various side stalls and a Tombola. There was a competition cash prize fund of £400.
Much of the prize money was donated back to the fund and, as a result, the total funds raised by this event alone was £1700. It was such an enjoyable day as well and all those who organized it couldn't have been happier with how it went. 11 September 2010 - GALA PRESENTATION NIGHTAll the events run throughout 2010 will come together with a presentation night held at the Oxford City and County Bowls Club. This night will see the eventual fund total presented to Sobell House after a 3 course gala meal.
In addition at this event the Grand Draw will be made to decide the winners of the magnificent prizes available. Ticket for this event will be priced at £12 per head and will be available shortly.
