TUESDAY OUTDOOR TRIPLES

(BOOK IN BY 5.50. DRAW TAKES PLACE AT 6.00)

If you haven’t tried it yet, come and see for yourself how enjoyable Tuesday Triples can be!

Up to now, Tuesday has been “club night” when members of all abilities are encouraged to join together in games of Triples (18 ends) or, depending on numbers, Pairs (20 ends). A competitive element has been provided each week through a prize of £4 per player for the team with the highest shot difference. In addition the cumulative scores are kept to provide an overall winner for the entire season. It has already been decided that the event will cease to be a recognized club competition after the end of this season - which opens up new possibilities.

This aims to be a "fun" event and provides new and less confident bowlers with an opportunity to play with more experienced bowlers and so gain useful and enjoyable match experience. The atmosphere is very friendly and, in order to provide a balanced contest, a separate draw aims to put stronger bowlers against each other rather than with each other. And these bowlers are asked to make each game as enjoyable as possible for all players on the rink.

After the match there is an ideal opportunity to socialize and meet new people.

The current practical arrangements are as follows:

  • Book in on arrival by 5.50pm. Pay your £2 entrance fee and take a numbered disc. The draw will commence at 6pm.
  • Every bowler on the highest winning rink each Tuesday will receive prize money of £4.
  • If the weather is bad and less than 12 bowlers book in, games may still take place, but they do not count for weekly or seasonal competition purposes.

No final decision has yet been taken on the form to be taken by Tuesday Triples in 2011. It appears likely, however, that it will cease to be a club competition but will remain as a regular roll-up opportunity.
