Ciy & County welcomes the Queens Baton
"Oxford City and County Bowls Club were represented at Cutteslowe Park/Sunnymeade Park during the festivities which saw the arrival in Oxford of the Queens Baton on its journey to Scotland for the Commonwealth Games.
Our Bowls Club, together with many other sports were showing off their wares and all seemed to be attracting much interest.
From our standpoint the many schools which were represented were keen to 'have a go' and here you see one of our coaches, Graham Kerr introducing youngsters to our great sport.
Many parents and teachers expressed an encouraging interest - so lets hope we see some of them at our club in the near future.
Colin Pollard, along with Helen Toms, Graham Kerr and Bob Scholes were in attendance from around 11.00am to get things set up and moving -  and later in the day Rosemary Phelps and Gary Gray took over to keep the momentum going.  It was also encouraging to see other members from our club making an appearance too".
